Cantigny Park will hold its Annual Fall Festival from 10 am to 4 pm, featuring an open air market, scarecrow making and plenty of activities for children.
October 13, 2009 - May 23, 2010: Elmhurst Historical Museum will host Dwellings: A Study of Residential Architecture. Using Elmhurst as a case study, this original exhibit takes visitors on an exploration of the diverse architectural styles of the western suburbs. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 1-5 pm. General Admission is free.
October 15: Don't miss The Business Ledger's Hospitality Forum & Expo with over 50 exhibitors and an all-star panel focused on the latest trends of event planning. The event is free for all registered guests, and will be held at Northern Illinois University-Naperville.
October 16-18, 23-25, 30-31: Have you ever wondered what the dinosaurs do at Brookfield Zoo when the gates close at night? Find out this Halloween season during DinoNites from 6 to 10 pm. Guests can see the dinosaurs in a whole new light, and lots of other activities will have ghosts and goblins of all ages screaming for more!
October 18: Join in the 4th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora.
October 20: The 2009 DuPage Job Fair, coordinated by the office of State Representative Sandra Pihos, will take place from 10 am to 4 pm in the Student Resource Center (SRC 2800) at the College of DuPage. This annual event connects employers and job seekers at all levels. 3,000 attendees are expected, making it the largest recruitment event in DuPage County.
October 21: Oktoberfest party, back by popular demand, 6:30 to 9:30 pm at The Public Landing Restaurant & Banquet Center. Bavarian style buffet and open bar, with entertainment provided by The Amazing Mike.
October 23-24: Experience two of the darkest nights of the year during All Hallows Eve: A 19th Century Halloween, from 6:30 to 10 pm at Naper Settlement. The entire 12-acre village's buildings and grounds are haunted with creatures and characters from the scariest literature and events of the 19th century. Admission is $10 per person.
October 24: Lombard Town Centre will present its first annual Spooktacular Fall Festival complete with food and beverage vendors, arts & crafts, a pumpkin patch, hayrides, downtown trick or treating, petting zoo, games, live entertainment and more!
October 24: Stone Mosaic workshop at Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art. Experience making contemporary stone mosaics with mosaicist Gwyn Kaitis. Students will learn to use tools and techniques and create a 6" by 6" work of art to take home. All materials are provided with registration. Ages 16 years to Adult.

October 30: DuPage Children’s Museum and McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage present MatheMagic! starring Bradley Fields, A Magical Pied Piper of Math! The show, designed for kids ages 4 to 8, combines comedy, magic and storytelling to entertain and engage children in math-skills and problem-solving. It will be held beginning at 6 pm at Washington Jr. High School in Naperville. Advanced registration recommended.
October 31: RA Sushi Lombard is hosting a Spooky Sushi Party from 8 pm to close. Come dance the night away at Boo Bash, and enjoy great sushi and drink specials. Dress to Impress: wear your scariest, most creative costume for a chance to win in the costume contest.
November 3: Walden Floral Design Co. invites all bureau members to an Annual Open House from 3 to 7 pm. The company is getting ready to kick off its tenth year in business. They specialize in wedding and event flowers, and were a "Top Pick" by The Knot in 2008 & 2009, a top pick by WeddingWire.com and recipient of the 2009 Annual Award for Business Excellence by The Business Ledger.
