Conveniently located just 16 miles west of Chicago's loop, this vibrant, tree-lined community offers thriving retail shops, fine dining, outstanding theatre and art, excellent museums, and a variety of events during the year. Elmhurst has its own Metra commuter rail station and is convenient to both O’Hare and Midway Airports, as well as major highways.

Ride the Explore Elmhurst Trolley that runs starting in May and throughout the summer and holidays.  The trolley is available while Elmhurst celebrates Museum Day at its own Museum Campus.  Make an art project at the Elmhurst Art Museum, or enjoy the Elmhurst Historical Museum.

Some popular spots include Francesca's Amici, Angelo’s Ristorante, Bistro C at the Clarion Hotel, Red Dragon, Roberto’s Ristorante & Pizza, 100 South Chophouse, 151 Kitchen | Bar, Livia Italian Eatery, and Red Arrow Tap Room.  

Elmhurst College and the Waterford Banquet & Conference Center offer facilities for large groups and banquets.

In the heart of the downtown Elmhurst, City Centre offers a variety of restaurants and gourmet shops, boutique shopping, a 10-screen movie theatre and a number of family-friendly events and activities throughout the year.

Other areas offering shopping and dining options include Spring Road, York & Vallette, North Elmhurst, South Elmhurst, Route 83 & North Avenue, and Elmhurst Crossing.

Elmhurst is also convenient to Oakbrook Center and offers an easy 20-minute commute by car or commuter train to downtown Chicago shopping.

Visit beautiful Wilder Park, voted Best Suburban Park by Chicago Magazine. It connects to Elmhurst's museum campus that includes the Elmhurst Art Museum with its McCormick House designed and built by Mies van der Rohe.
